About the press

Why it’s called Moonlight

Dave Langley’s grandfather flipped houses after hours in the 1940s and ’50s, long before anybody had a name for it. He used to say, “You’ve got to moonlight to build a legacy.”

Moonlight Press carries that idea into print. It is a small, independent press in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, publishing books, guides and tests for small business owners and their families, the people building something on nights and weekends and the families who make that possible.

What we’re for

Helping small business families live their best lives

That means practical help on the business: how to start one, lead the people in it, and tell its story so customers remember it. It also means the rest of life that a business sits inside: faith, family, and the hard seasons everybody goes through.

Down the road, it means helping owners and their families tell their own stories in print. Read about Your Story.

The author

Dave Langley

Dave Langley is a business storyteller and serial entrepreneur. Over forty years he has owned and run seven small businesses, including business and promotional printing, specialty advertising and a family concrete manufacturer, and he spent a season working the fairs as a pitch man.

He earned a degree in English literature planning to write a novel by forty. The businesses came first. Now he divides his time between Moonlight Marketing Consultants and writing for Moonlight Press, telling the stories he has told out loud for years in a plainspoken Kentucky storyteller’s voice.

He lives and works in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
